Back in 2014, Nintendo revealed a new Legend of Zelda game was coming to the Wii U. A trailer released in December showed that it would be an open-world game, not unlike Skyrim. Today at E3, another trailer was released, showing more gameplay, and revealing the official title.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild opens up with a woman saying (yes, actually saying) “Open your eyes,” twice as the camera shows the gorgeously animated world of Hyrule. She finally says “Wake up Link,” and then we see our hero in action. Link leaps from a ledge and uses a parachute to float, cooks, hunts, starts a grass fire, and kills enemies with creative tactics not seen in previous Zelda games, like rolling a rock down a hill on them. Link also wields a spear at one point, and is briefly seen wearing plate armor. Curiously, he has yet to be seen wearing his trademark green tunic.
Breath of the Wild is scheduled for release on the Wii U and NX sometime in 2017. You can see the latest trailer here.
