You might think that player is taking an unnecessary risk, but there’s a new copy of Dark Souls III in that eggshell.

The final chapter of Dark Souls III has nearly arrived. Today brings an intriguing announcement of its last DLC story entitled “The Ringed City.” This is the second and last major piece of additional content for Dark Souls III, following the “Ashes of Ariandel” expansion. While that chapter received generally favorable reviews, players hope that The Ringed City proves to be even more enjoyable by delivering an epic conclusion and a serviceable farewell for the titan of a game. The teasing announcement is¬†already full of Dark Souls’ trademark mix of haunting ambiance and tantalizing mystery, and we wholeheartedly hope that this means the final story will do right by the fans.

Here’s the official synopsis of the DLC from the developer, Bandai Namco.

At the close of the Age of Fire, as the world ends and all lands converge upon themselves, a lone adventurer descends into the madness of the earth and uncovers the secrets of the past. As players make their way to the fabled Ringed City they will encounter ancient beasts, a new cast of characters teetering on the edge of insanity, new armor. weapons, magic, and at the bottom of it all, a long lost city filled with new horrors for players to overcome.

On top of this release comes the wonderful new reveal of the title’s Game of the Year version–Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition–which contains the original game and both DLC story packs. However, it is interesting to note that this reveal only appears in the European trailer, and NOT in the United States trailer. Does this mean that the special edition will only be available across the pond? We will update this story when the information becomes available.
