Details on Two Upcoming Sonic Games to be Revealed at SXSW

Last year, the official Twitter account of Sonic the Hedgehog hinted that a new game was coming up. Since then, two new games have been revealed. Sonic Mania, the first one, appears to be a classic side-scrolling game like the ones released on the Sega Genesis, and the Sonic Advance series on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. The other one is simply titled Sonic 2017.

This year, Sega is attending South by Southwest to reveal more details about both games. Their panel is called Gotta Go Fast: The Official Panel of Sonic the Hedgehog. The speakers at this panel will be Takashi Iizuka, the current head of Sonic Team, Aaron Webber, who is responsible for the official Facebook and Twitter accounts for Sonic the Hedgehog, Roger Craig Smith, the current voice of Sonic, and Mike Pollock, the current voice of Dr. Eggman.

Sonic Mania will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. No information is currently available about Sonic 2017. The Sonic panel at SXSW is scheduled on March 16, from 5 PM to 6 PM.

I'm an English Major with an emphasis in writing. When I have the free time, I love to play video games. I'll play just about anything, but my specific favorites are side scrollers, action games, and fighting games, specifically the Super Smash Bros. series. I prefer to play as a team, but I'm just as willing to compete, so long as the game is fun.
