New Spider-Man Game Coming to PlayStation 4 This Year

Insomniac Games, best known for the Ratchet and Clank series and the first three Spyro games, announced that they were working on a Spider-Man game exclusively for the PlayStation 4 last year. Today Ryan Penagos, the vice president and executive director of Marvel Digital Media, revealed that the game will be released this year in a livestream that was later captured by GamingSince95 on Reddit.

Penagos claimed that “there’s even more on the horizon for 2017 like Spider-Man coming to PlayStation 4 and Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.” Marvel has also partnered with Sony for their next movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but this game is an original story with no connection to the film.

Not much else is known about the game at the moment, except that it will involve “traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, [] new combat and blockbuster set pieces, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before,” according to Insomniac’s official page for the game, which can be found here.

I'm an English Major with an emphasis in writing. When I have the free time, I love to play video games. I'll play just about anything, but my specific favorites are side scrollers, action games, and fighting games, specifically the Super Smash Bros. series. I prefer to play as a team, but I'm just as willing to compete, so long as the game is fun.
