New Trailer for Upcoming Spider-Man Game Revealed

Back in April, Insomniac Games revealed that they were working on a new Spider-Man game. In June, they released a trailer at E3, showing some gameplay, and teasing clues about the plot. The trailer depicted Spider-Man fighting to protect men working for Wilson Fisk (a. k. a. the Kingpin) from a gang called the Demons. He eventually discovers that the Demons are led by a man named Martin Li, who is also a supervillain named “Mr. Negative.” The trailer shows off stealth and combat mechanics similar to the Batman Arkham series, a dramatic helicopter chase, and ends by showing Miles Morales, the current Spider-Man in the Marvel comics.

Another trailer was released today, which focuses more on the story. Wilson Fisk was defeated and exposed as the head of a criminal empire before this game even started, and warns that he was the only one keeping order in the city. Peter Parker is thinking that he might not have to be Spider-Man so often with the Kingpin out of the picture, and offers to help out at a homeless shelter, which Martin Li is also involved in. Miles also offers to help out. Unfortunately, as the last trailer revealed, a new threat is coming, so Peter will be forced to don the mask once again. Near the beginning of the trailer, Norman Osborn is seen giving a speech while trying to run a campaign for mayor. Norman Osborn is most famous for being the Green Goblin, one of Spider-Man’s best-known adversaries. Whether he will become the Goblin in this game or not is not known at this time.

Spider-Man will be available for the PlayStation for in 2018. It is not connected to any Spider-Man movies, TV shows, or comic books. You can check out the game’s official website here.

I'm an English Major with an emphasis in writing. When I have the free time, I love to play video games. I'll play just about anything, but my specific favorites are side scrollers, action games, and fighting games, specifically the Super Smash Bros. series. I prefer to play as a team, but I'm just as willing to compete, so long as the game is fun.
