Epic Games, the makers of the new smash hit battle royale Fortnite, revealed on the 10th they would be implementing cross-platform play, progression, and purchases between Xbox One, PC, and mobile platforms in the near future bringing an already large community of gamers more together. Not much was detailed in their announcement, but they are quite interested in pushing forward with getting Xbox, PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and PS4 to be able to play in the same 100 person battle royale game.
Currently not many games support cross-play between consoles and PC, let alone between consoles, so perhaps this will be a further test of how well gaming across vastly different platforms works. Up to now, not many shooter games are able to be played by console and PC players due to input precision, so perhaps Fortnite can find a good solution this barrier and deliver a fun experience for those on the couch, at a desk, or on the bus.
