One of Xbox’s most anticipated exclusives: Sea of Thieves, launched with server issues. Sea of Thieves released on March 20th but, instead of discussing the game’s visuals or pirate gameplay most players are complaining of not being able to join at all.
Rare, the developers of Sea of Thieves, held multiple betas before the game’s launch. Unfortunately, it seems to have provided very little help as they say they’ve experienced an unprecedented number of players, causing the server issues. These issues are preventing players from connecting with crew members and getting into the open world.
The issues became so severe that Rare had to temporarily suspend any new players from playing the game until a fix was found. The Sea of Thieves twitter announced, “In order to resolve the issues players are seeing with the servers, we will be temporarily suspending new players joining the game. We’ll get everyone back in and playing as quickly as we can!”
Rare released a developer update discussing the launch status and what they’re doing to remedy the situation. In addition to server issues, the game also had problems with delayed quest rewards and achievements.
