Nintendo Switch Hacked

A hack for the Nintendo Switch was recently discovered that allows users to run Homebrew code on the system. This has led to users running Dolphin, the Gamecube emulator, on the system.

In normal circumstances, a vulnerability like this would be patched by Nintendo, however the vulnerability is in the hardware itself. In order to fix this problem Nintendo would need to release a new Switch, which would have the bug in the processor fixed. This hack could potentially lead to game piracy on the Switch.

This hack was discovered by Fail0verflow, a group of console hackers. In February, Fail0verflow released a video of a Switch running Linux.
