Way back in 2016, Rockstar Games announced that they were making a sequel to Red Dead Redemption, their critically acclaimed Western game from 2010. It was supposed to be released by 2017, but got delayed. Over the years, Rockstar has released two trailers for the upcoming game, and a third was just released today.
Despite what the title would imply, Red Dead Redemption 2 is actually a prequel to Red Dead Redemption. The first game was about John Marston, a former outlaw-turned-family man, who is forced to hunt down his old outlaw friends, the Van der Linde gang, by the Bureau of Investigation.
The trailer indicates that Marston will appear in the game, but the description for the video claims that the next game will tell the story of Arthur Morgan, another member of the gang. After a robbery goes wrong, the Van der Linde gang find themselves chased by bounty hunters and federal agents across the country. Tensions rise in the gang, and Arthur “must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on October 26, 2018. Check out the trailer here.
