King K. Rool, Two Castlevania Characters Coming to Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo’s upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already has a large cast of fighters, and it has two more surprises in store, as of today.

King K. Rool, the main antagonist to the Donkey Kong Country series, will join the roster. The large leader of the Kremlings throws his crown, which comes back to him like a boomerang, and can use his blunderbuss from Donkey Kong Country 2 as some of his moves. K. Rool first appeared in the 1994 SNES game, Donkey Kong Country, and has been a recurring nemesis in most Donkey Kong games since then.

Perhaps an even bigger surprise is that Simon and Richter Belmont of the Castlevania series will also be playable fighters. Simon was the protagonist of the first Castlevania game, which debuted on the NES in 1986, and appeared in seven more games after that. Richter appeared in Rondo of Blood, and Symphony of the Night. He will be Simon’s echo.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available on the Nintendo Switch on December 7th of this year. You can check out King K. Rool’s trailer here, and the Belmonts’ trailer here.

I'm an English Major with an emphasis in writing. When I have the free time, I love to play video games. I'll play just about anything, but my specific favorites are side scrollers, action games, and fighting games, specifically the Super Smash Bros. series. I prefer to play as a team, but I'm just as willing to compete, so long as the game is fun.
